Story Behind the Trip to Panama
It was 2018 in Ira’s apartment in West Vancouver when Ira, Kaan and I were thinking should we all get together and create a digital marketing agency.
We built a website in the space of a couple of days and North Shore Digital was born in the summer of 2018.
It seemed natural that we would try and build it into something bigger, something more impactful and something more meaningful.
We wanted to create a new style of workplace where It’s not all about a nine to five and being stuck at your desk.
It’s more about what makes sense for productivity. What makes sense for the modern lifestyle that people need.
The trip to Panama came about because Ira, one of our co-founders moved there with his partner, Charlotte, who got a job teaching at an international high school.
I have a family of travelling adventurers who love to go to new countries and experience different languages, food and cultures so Panama with its beautiful blend of beaches, jungle and city life really appealed.
It was great to hang out with them and meet another of our team, Sam, and his partner, Dulce.
Although we work primarily virtually, it’s really important to us to meet up in-person and create special memories that bond together our experiences.
When I got back to North Vancouver, I felt completely fulfilled.
I’m always ready to start again when I get back.
I like getting back to routines.
I like it when the time comes and it’s time to get back to work.
Let’s keep building.
Panama in Pictures
We had such a fantastic time in Panama. Our base to begin with was Panama City where Ira and Sam live. We explored in and around the fun city including Casco Viejo and the canal. We loved our stay at Gamboa Rainforest Resort and flying to the Caribbean side and Bocas Del Toro.
We saw so much wildlife including toucans, sloths and a crocodile swimming in the sea in Panama City. That was shocking but not as much as getting stung by a stingray on Bastimentos Island. That was painful and I’ve now learned what to do if that happens again: 1. Don’t panic 2. Put the sting in a bucket of hot water 3. Let the venom come out 4. Relief.
